Our original plan had been to fly to Denver on the 21st (the Thursday
before Christmas) spend Christmas with family maybe visit some friends,
you know the usual holiday vacation. Then we wanted to make a stop and
see a friend in Florida for 3 days before we spent some time with Carol
in South Carolina. Steve would stay at her place while she took her 2
week vacation and cover for work, and I'd fly back home. On the 20th
Denver had a snow storm, so what right? Okay is wasn't just some little
snow storm it was a blizzard and the airport was shut down for 3
days... needless to say our fight there was canceled.
Since we were home and had no kitchen in which to cook a holiday meal in, on
Christmas eve we had steaks cooked over an open flame, baked potatoes
cowboy style and yorkshire pudding from the toaster oven. It was delicious!
We did manage to make it Denver for Christmas (at 8 PM on Christmas day), we spent the remaining days enjoying the family. We got to spend time getting to know the newest additions, Nevaeh and Nathanial.
We left on the 28th, just as Denver was getting hit with another big snow storm, we were delayed for 4 hours and took off at 10PM to a roar of cheers headed for sunny
Florida for 3 warm days.
While in Florida we took a short boat trip around Biscayne Bay
we were surprised by all the iguana's sunning themselves along a bridge underpass
and we went around the man made island and got a close up look at the Viscaya.
We left from Florida on January 1st at 6 am and almost missed our flight. Since we figured at that time no one would be flying, that seems is what everyone thought, the lines were so long they were calling out flights that were leaving in 1/2 hour and if it was you, you left the big line to get into the line for that flight. It was crazy!
We spent 4 days hanging out with Carol and Katherine (their mom) in South Carolina, before Carol left for her vacation and I came home.
Then on the 4th weekend of January we went to San Fransisco for a Pinot Noir wine taste off, Washington vs California. But first we took a tour of the Santa Cruz Mountain wineries with Marianne and Todd.
Fun was had by all at the taste off dinner. Where the California wine David Bruce was the winner.
The following day we took a trip over to Half Moon Bay for lunch. Before we came home.
